Diamonds Among Us was inspired by writer Deborah LeFalle's hiking adventures over the past several years with older adult groups, mostly in California’s Santa Clara Valley. In the collection, LeFalle reflects on what she has seen, heard, smelled, felt, vocalized, learned, experienced, and imagined on trails in open spaces that we human beings share with other forms of life. Patterned after the eintou septet, 32-syllable structure, LeFalle's words offer a reminder of the gems we can find in nature, if only we will look for them. Enjoy the trek!
Deborah LeFalle has walked the earth for more than seven decades and writing is one of her favorite things to do. Her work has appeared in various journals, magazines and anthologies; and she has authored one full-length book of poetry (Homage), two chapbooks (Worthy and Little Suites), and one children’s book (Bitty Brown Babe). Beyond writing, LeFalle enjoys engaging in the arts, digging into her family’s past, and spending time outdoors communing with nature. She lives a simple, gratitude-filled life in San Jose, California.
