Vivian Sming is an artist, writer, and publisher. In her art practice she uses text, images, videos, and other new genres to engage in posthuman discourse and is committed to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue through publications and programming.
Sming’s imprint Sming Sming Books & Objects designs and publishes a wide range of artists' books, zines, and editions out of close collaboration with artists whose works and ideas inform design, material, and printing choices. Sming Sming Books is invested in creating books from practices that are challenging to represent on paper, and is committed to promoting critical discourse and advancing cultural equity through the format of publishing.

In 2018, Sming Sming published UC Berkeley Professor of Painting Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle’s artist book Kentifrications.

Sming holds a BA in Art with a Minor in Anthropology from UCLA and an MFA from CalArts.
